What this is

This is two days of strategic input per month — calls, document reviews, and written guidance. Two-month minimum commitment. Maximum three active retainer clients at any time. The problem it fixes is that most ecommerce founders need a strategic operator on call but can't justify the cost of a full-time CMO or fractional director. They want someone who's been inside the work, can read a category report or a P&L without translation, and can answer "what should we do about this?" without burning twenty hours figuring out the question. The retainer is structured for that — two days of deliberate input each month, focused on the decisions where founder-level judgment is the bottleneck. Built from operator-level experience across Amazon and Shopify operations, not consultancy theory. Capped at three clients because the time has to be real, not nominal.

What happens during a typical month
  1. 01

Week 1. Monthly ninety-minute strategy call — booked at month start. Agenda set by you.

  2. 02

Throughout the month. Document reviews and written feedback within forty-eight hours. Slack or email access with response within one business day.

  3. 03

End of month. Utilisation summary so you know what you used and what's banked.

  4. 04

Quarter end. Quarterly strategic review — separate from monthly call, longer-form, looks back and forward.

FAQ

What people ask before booking.

How many revisions are included? What if we need more?

One revision round is included in every Engagement. Further rounds are £85 each. A revision round means a consolidated set of feedback delivered within 14 days of receiving the work — piecemeal feedback gets folded into one round.

When do we pay? What's the deposit structure?

Engagements under £500 are due on delivery. Engagements £500 and above are 50% deposit on booking, 50% on delivery. The Strategic Retainer is monthly upfront with a two-month minimum. We hold your slot the moment payment lands and start work once any deposit clears.

What if our needs are slightly outside the published service?

Custom-scope work is priced from the published Standard rate for the closest service, quoted at scoping, and confirmed in writing before we book. We don't surprise-bill for scope changes.

What if we're not happy with the work?

Tell us within 14 days of delivery. Most cases resolve with a revision. If we genuinely missed the brief, a partial refund is on the table — we'd rather acknowledge it than argue. Otherwise, fees are non-refundable for completed work.

What does "two days per month" actually look like?

One ninety-minute strategy call (always). Document reviews — typically two to four hours per month. Slack or email back-and-forth — typically one to three hours per month. Plus the quarterly strategic review (longer). Most months land at fifteen to twenty hours of real work; the cap exists so we can't be guilted into more time at lower quality. We track time and surface utilisation each month so you know exactly what you're getting.

Why only three clients?

Two days a month each across three clients is six days a month total — about a third of available capacity. Beyond three clients the time becomes nominal rather than real, and we'd be selling a worse version of what we say we sell. The retainer scales by adding waitlist clients, not by squeezing existing ones.

Can we cancel after the two-month minimum?

Yes. After month two, the retainer rolls month-to-month with one month's notice. We don't lock founders into long retainers. The two-month minimum exists because the first month is mostly orientation; the work compounds in month two.
