Accessibility Statement

Our commitment
Fin Method is committed to making finmethod.co.uk accessible to as many people as possible. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards, and we treat accessibility as a quality issue, not a checklist.
What we’ve done
The site has been built with accessibility considered from the design stage:
- Typography and contrast. Body text is set in Source Serif 4 at 17px with 1.7 line height for comfortable reading. Foreground and background colour pairings are checked for WCAG AA contrast at minimum.
- Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element on the site can be reached and operated using a keyboard alone. Focus states are visible.
- Semantic structure. Pages use proper heading hierarchy, semantic HTML elements (header, nav, main, article, aside, footer), and meaningful link text.
- Alt text. Images that carry meaning have descriptive alt text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them.
- Reduced motion. Animations on the site respect the user’s prefers-reduced-motion setting. If you’ve set your operating system to reduce motion, the site won’t animate.
- Forms. Form fields have associated labels and error messages are surfaced clearly.
What we haven’t yet done
The site has not been formally audited against WCAG 2.2 AA. We’re a two-person team and have prioritised building accessibly from the start over commissioning a formal audit at launch. We commit to addressing any accessibility issue raised within fifteen working days, or explaining honestly why an issue cannot be fixed within that window.
Specific known limitations:
- Some legacy embedded content (where present) may not meet AA contrast if it comes from third-party services we don’t control.
- The site has not yet been tested with every screen reader and browser combination. We’ve tested with VoiceOver on macOS and NVDA on Windows.
- Complex visual elements (the hero animation on the homepage, the Polaroid drag-and-drop on /about) may not be optimal for all users even with reduced motion enabled. Reduced motion disables the animation entirely.
